Whether rooted in myth and fairy tale or the every day the stories of women from once upon a time can be seen in those of yesterday and today. Denise's current work interweaves fragments of lives real and imagined, internalised and turned outwards again. Emerging from this process are a collection of figures solitary, sometimes isolated, wistful and haunting. Each figure or piece forms its own story, emerging through an intuitive interplay of intent and spontaneity, to share secrets, to provide insight, to provoke question.
